How to Take a Screenshot of a Webpage on a Dell Computer
Capture part of a webpage, an active window, the full screen, or an entire page on a Dell Windows computer.
On a Dell computer running Windows, press Windows key + Shift + S to capture a selected area of a webpage. For a full-screen file saved automatically, press Windows key + PrtScn. To capture content below the fold, use Microsoft Edge’s Screenshot feature and choose Capture full page.
Choose the right screenshot method
| What you need | Shortcut or feature | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| A selected part of the page | Windows + Shift + S | Snipping Tool; copy or save it |
| The whole screen saved automatically | Windows + PrtScn | Pictures\Screenshots |
| The active browser window | Alt + PrtScn | Clipboard; paste into an app |
| The whole visible screen | PrtScn | Clipboard; paste into an app |
| The entire webpage, including below the fold | Edge Screenshot → Capture full page | Edge’s save or copy controls |
Capture part of a webpage with Windows + Shift + S
- Open the webpage in your browser and bring the section you need into view.
- Press Windows key + Shift + S.
- Choose the rectangular snip mode, then drag around the webpage area.
- Open the Snipping Tool notification or window to annotate, copy, share, or save the image.
Microsoft lists Ctrl + C for copying a snip and Ctrl + S for saving it. This method captures pixels currently on the screen, so content below the browser’s visible area is not included.
Save a full-screen screenshot automatically
- Press Windows key + PrtScn.
- Open File Explorer and go to Pictures\Screenshots.
- Open or rename the image as needed.
This captures every monitor area shown by Windows. Move private windows, notifications, or other sensitive content away before using the shortcut.
Capture only the browser window
- Click the browser window so it is active.
- Press Alt + PrtScn.
- Open Paint, Word, an image editor, or another destination.
- Press Ctrl + V, then save the pasted image.
PrtScn without Alt copies the full screen to the clipboard. Neither shortcut creates a file until you paste and save the image.
Capture an entire webpage in Microsoft Edge
A normal screen screenshot cannot include content that is below the fold. In Microsoft Edge:
- Open the webpage.
- Open Edge’s Screenshot feature from the browser menu, the page context menu, or the documented shortcut Ctrl + Shift + S.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Use Edge’s markup, copy, or save controls.
Edge’s full-page mode captures content beyond the visible screen without requiring you to scroll manually. Microsoft notes that feature availability can vary by device type, market, and browser version. If the option is missing, update Edge or use the Windows + Shift + S method for a visible region.
Dell keyboard shortcuts and the Fn key
Dell keyboards use several labels for Print Screen: PrintScreen, PrntScrn, PrntScr, PrtScn, PrtScr, or PrtSc. On some Dell laptops, Print Screen shares a key with another function and requires Fn. Depending on the model, examples include Fn + F10 or Fn + Insert.
If you are unsure, check the manual for your exact Dell model. Windows + Shift + S is a practical alternative because it does not depend on the Print Screen key’s placement.
How to keep and share the image
- Snipping Tool capture: choose Save, or copy it and paste it into another application.
- PrtScn or Alt + PrtScn: paste the clipboard image into Paint or an editor, then save as PNG or JPEG.
- Windows + PrtScn: retrieve the saved file from Pictures\Screenshots.
- Edge full page: use Edge’s save or copy controls after the capture finishes.
PNG is usually best for text and sharp interface details. JPEG creates smaller files but can blur fine text. Crop unrelated browser tabs, bookmarks, passwords, and notifications before sharing.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need repeatable screenshots from code, ScreenshotNeo returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one GET request. Its browser automation handles full-page capture and other options without manual Dell keyboard steps. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters.
cURL
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed; response headers identify the page verdict and whether the request was billed. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
Troubleshooting
Print Screen does nothing
Try the Dell model’s Fn combination, such as Fn + F10 or Fn + Insert. If that fails, use Windows + Shift + S and check the model manual for the exact key layout.
The image contains only part of the webpage
That is expected from screen-bound shortcuts. Use Edge’s Screenshot → Capture full page when you need content below the fold.
The screenshot is not saved anywhere
PrtScn and Alt + PrtScn copy an image to the clipboard. Paste it into Paint or another app and save it. Windows + PrtScn saves directly under Pictures\Screenshots.
The full-page option is unavailable in Edge
Edge says Screenshot functionality can vary by device type, market, and browser version. Update Edge, check its menus, or capture the visible area with Snipping Tool. For automated captures, use the ScreenshotNeo request above.
The capture includes private information
Close or hide password managers, notifications, email previews, and unrelated tabs before capturing. Crop or redact the image before sharing.
Performance, reliability, and cost notes
- Fastest local method: Windows + Shift + S for a visible region.
- Most complete local method: Edge Capture full page for below-the-fold content.
- Reliability: keyboard shortcuts depend on Windows and the Dell keyboard layout; browser full-page tools depend on Edge availability and version.
- File size: PNG preserves text quality; JPEG is smaller; clipboard captures require an extra save step.
- Automation: ScreenshotNeo adds API usage and network latency but supports repeatable captures, caching with a chosen TTL, custom viewport and device settings, waits, CSS selectors, PDF output, and bulk capture.
- Billing: ScreenshotNeo bills only clean shots; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing.
