How to Screenshot a Website in Microsoft Edge on a Mac
Capture a full webpage or selected area in Microsoft Edge on a Mac, save or copy the result, and learn when macOS screenshots or printing fit better.
To screenshot a website in Microsoft Edge on a Mac, open the page, then choose Screenshot from Edge’s Settings and more menu or right-click the page and choose the screenshot command. Select Capture full page for content below the visible area, or choose the selected-area option to capture a portion. Review the result, then copy or save it; Edge also supports markup before copying or saving.
Microsoft’s feature page lists Ctrl+Shift+S, but that is not confirmed as a Mac shortcut. Microsoft’s Mac shortcut list does not include an Edge screenshot shortcut, so use the menu or right-click route on macOS.
1. Capture a full webpage in Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge and navigate to the webpage you want to capture.
- Open Settings and more from the browser toolbar, then choose Screenshot. Depending on the Edge version or menu layout, the feature may still be called Web Capture.
- Choose Capture full page to include content beyond the current viewport.
- Review the captured page. Add markup if needed, then choose the option to copy or save the capture.
You can also right-click the webpage and choose the screenshot command from the context menu. Microsoft describes both full-page and selected-area capture, as well as markup, copying, and saving. See Microsoft’s Screenshot Tool documentation.
2. Capture only part of a webpage
- Open the page in Edge.
- Start Screenshot from the toolbar menu or the page’s right-click menu.
- Choose the selected-area capture option.
- Select the portion of the page you need, review it, and copy or save it.
Use this for a chart, a paragraph, or another visible region. If the content extends below the current screen and you need all of it, choose full-page capture instead.
3. Choose the capture method that fits
| What you need | Use | What it captures |
|---|---|---|
| A long webpage, including content below the screen | Edge full-page screenshot | The webpage beyond the current viewport |
| A particular visible part of a page | Edge selected-area screenshot | The selected portion |
| Everything currently visible on the Mac screen | macOS screenshot shortcuts | The screen or a screen region |
| A printable record of the page | Edge printing | A print-oriented page record |
These options serve different purposes: macOS screen captures show what is on screen, while Edge’s full-page mode is intended for webpage content below the viewport. Printing is useful when you want a printable record rather than an image.
4. Use macOS screenshot shortcuts for visible content
Apple documents these built-in Mac shortcuts:
- Shift-Command-3: capture the whole screen.
- Shift-Command-4: capture a selected portion of the screen.
- Shift-Command-5: open the screenshot controls.
Apple says screenshots are saved to the Desktop by default. These shortcuts capture screen content; they do not replace Edge’s full-page webpage capture when the page continues below the visible area. See Apple’s Mac screenshot instructions.
5. Print a page from Edge when you need a page record
Press Command-P in Edge on macOS to open its print dialog. Option-Command-P opens the system print dialog directly. Printing is an alternative for a printable page record, not a screenshot. Output and available options can depend on the browser and print setup. See Microsoft’s Edge printing instructions.
6. Or skip the browser setup
If you need repeatable website captures from code, ScreenshotNeo provides a screenshot API. One GET request returns an image or PDF. Its cookie and popup cleanup accepts consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
For example, save a webpage capture with cURL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Visit ScreenshotNeo to learn about the service, then sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month with no card.
7. Troubleshooting
Screenshot is missing from the menu
Check both the Settings and more menu and the page’s right-click context menu. Look for the older name Web Capture as well as Screenshot. If the option is unavailable on a managed Mac, an administrator policy may control it. Microsoft documents this setting as the WebCaptureEnabled policy.
The shortcut does not open Screenshot
Do not assume Ctrl+Shift+S is the Mac shortcut. Microsoft’s feature page lists it, but its Mac keyboard shortcut reference does not list a screenshot command. Use the toolbar menu or right-click menu instead. See Microsoft’s Edge keyboard shortcuts.
The capture stops at the visible area
Start Screenshot again and explicitly choose Capture full page. A selected-area capture and a macOS screen capture cover only the area you select or see on screen.
You need an image but opened the print dialog
Printing creates a print-oriented record. Return to Edge’s Screenshot command to copy or save an image capture.
The feature remains unavailable
Check Edge’s menus and whether the browser is managed by an organization. Microsoft’s policy documentation confirms that administrators can manage the feature. The available sources do not specify a minimum Edge version for the feature, image format, or resolution, so check current Edge support information for version-specific details.
8. Practical notes
- Capture scope: choose full-page capture for long pages, selected-area capture for a portion, and macOS shortcuts for visible screen content.
- Dynamic pages: the cited Microsoft documentation does not guarantee how animations, lazy-loaded content, or other changing page elements appear in a capture. Review the result before sharing it.
- Output details: the cited feature documentation does not specify image format or resolution. Use Edge’s save or copy flow and inspect the resulting file for your needs.
- Managed browsers: if the command is unavailable, browser policy may be responsible. Ask the device administrator if the Mac is organization-managed.
9. FAQ
Is Edge Screenshot the same as Web Capture?
Microsoft currently labels the feature Screenshot; Web Capture is an older name that may still appear in support material or browser policy settings.
Can I use Edge Screenshot to capture a page below the fold?
Yes. Choose the full-page capture option rather than a selected area.
Where does Edge save the screenshot?
Microsoft’s cited feature page says captures can be copied or saved but does not specify a fixed save location. Apple’s Desktop default applies to macOS screenshot shortcuts, not necessarily Edge’s save flow.
Does Command-Shift-4 capture a full webpage?
No. It captures a selected portion of the Mac screen. Use Edge’s full-page capture for webpage content beyond the viewport.
