To capture an entire webpage in Chrome on a MacBook Air, open the page, press Command-Option-I to open DevTools, then press Command-Shift-P. Search for screenshot and choose Capture full size screenshot. Chrome captures the page beyond the visible screen; you do not need to scroll manually. The command is documented in Chrome Help Community guidance, while Chrome’s official documentation confirms the shortcuts for opening DevTools and the Command Menu.

This workflow is the same in India as elsewhere. The MacBook Air’s screen size does not change the steps. If you only need visible screen pixels rather than the full webpage, use a macOS screenshot shortcut instead.

Capture the full webpage in Chrome

  1. Open the webpage in Chrome and wait for it to finish loading. If it loads content as you scroll, scroll through the page first so that content has a chance to appear.
  2. Press Command + Option + I to open Chrome DevTools. Chrome lists this as the Mac shortcut for opening the last-used DevTools panel.
  3. Press Command + Shift + P to open the DevTools Command Menu.
  4. Type screenshot in the menu’s search field.
  5. Select Capture full size screenshot. Chrome creates an image of the full page, including the parts below the fold.
  6. Find the downloaded image through Chrome’s Downloads list. The save folder depends on your Chrome download settings; it is commonly the Downloads folder, but check Chrome if you are unsure.

Chrome’s DevTools Command Menu also offers Capture area screenshot for selecting a rectangle of webpage content. The full-size command may not be present in every Chrome version or context. If it is missing, update Chrome and check that the target page is active in the browser.

Full-page capture versus a regular Mac screenshot

Mac screenshot shortcuts capture what is on the display or a selected visible region. They do not automatically include the off-screen portion of a long webpage. Choose the method that matches what you need:

Goal Method What it captures
Entire webpage, including below the fold Chrome DevTools → Capture full size screenshot The full page rendered in Chrome
Visible Mac display Shift + Command + 3 The screen as currently displayed
Visible rectangular selection Shift + Command + 4, then drag Pixels in the selected on-screen area
Chrome window only Shift + Command + 4, press Space, then click the window The visible Chrome window
Selected area within webpage content DevTools Command Menu → Capture area screenshot A selected region of the page; DevTools must remain docked
Screenshot controls and options Shift + Command + 5 Opens the macOS Screenshot app on macOS Mojave 10.14 or later

Apple says screenshots are saved to the desktop by default unless you change the destination. The Screenshot app lets you adjust options such as a timer, save location, floating thumbnail, and pointer capture. On supported Mac models running macOS Tahoe 26 or later, Apple documents SDR/PNG and HDR/HEIF format choices. These macOS options do not turn a display capture into a full webpage capture.

Capture a selected area in Chrome

  1. Open DevTools and press Command + Shift + P.
  2. Search for screenshot and choose Capture area screenshot.
  3. Drag over the part of the webpage you want to save.

Keep DevTools docked to Chrome for this command. Chrome’s documentation says area capture does not work when DevTools is undocked from the browser window.

What to check before capturing a long or dynamic page

  • Wait for the page to settle. Let images, fonts, and page content load before capturing.
  • Scroll through lazy-loaded content. Some pages only load images or sections when they approach the visible area. Scroll down the page first, then return to the top and capture.
  • Inspect the result. Sticky headers, animations, live data, and very long pages may render differently in a full-page capture than during ordinary scrolling. No single capture workflow guarantees identical output for every site.
  • Check Chrome Downloads. The destination may differ if you changed Chrome’s download location.
  • Retry after a page finishes loading. If sections are missing, reload, wait, scroll through the page, and capture again.

Or skip the browser setup

For repeatable captures in scripts or services, ScreenshotNeo takes a webpage URL through one API request and returns an image or PDF. The API supports full-page capture with lazy images loaded. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for its options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', new Uint8Array(await res.arrayBuffer()));

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the example URL to the page you want. The examples save the response as a WebP file.

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
DevTools does not open with Command-Option-I A different app or keyboard mapping is intercepting the shortcut, or Chrome is not active. Click the Chrome page and try again. You can also open DevTools from Chrome’s menu, then use the Command Menu shortcut.
The Command Menu does not appear The shortcut was entered outside DevTools or Chrome is not focused. Click inside the DevTools panel and press Command-Shift-P again.
“Capture full size screenshot” is not listed The command may not be available in that Chrome version or current context. Confirm the page is active, update Chrome, and search the Command Menu for “screenshot” again. If you only need a portion, try Capture area screenshot.
Capture area screenshot does nothing DevTools may be undocked. Dock DevTools to the Chrome window and retry.
Images or sections are missing The page had not loaded them yet, or it loads content as you scroll. Wait, scroll through the document to trigger lazy loading, return to the top, and take another full-size capture.
The output is not in the Desktop folder Chrome uses its configured download destination. Open Chrome Downloads to locate the file and review Chrome’s download settings.
The screenshot contains only what was visible on screen A macOS screen shortcut was used instead of Chrome’s full-size capture command. Use DevTools → Command Menu → Capture full size screenshot for the whole webpage.

Performance, reliability, and cost

Chrome DevTools is a convenient manual method when you are already viewing a page. Capture time and output size depend on the page’s length, loaded assets, and browser rendering; the reviewed documentation provides no universal time or file-size guarantee. For dynamic sites, loading content before capture improves the chance that the image includes the content you expect, but inspect the result because scripts, animations, and sticky elements can affect rendering.

The built-in Chrome and macOS methods require no screenshot service. If you automate captures, an API can remove the need to manage browser setup in your own workflow. ScreenshotNeo’s listed monthly plans range from 1,000 free shots to paid tiers of 3,000 for $5, 15,000 for $15, 60,000 for $39, 250,000 for $99, and 1,000,000 for $249; yearly billing gives two months free. Every feature is available on every plan. Only clean shots are billed, according to the product details.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work on every MacBook Air in India?

The Chrome and macOS keyboard workflows do not depend on India-specific settings. Keyboard layout or customized shortcuts can affect key entry, but the documented Mac shortcuts are the same.

Does a full-size screenshot require manually scrolling?

No. The DevTools full-size capture is intended to capture the full page. Scrolling beforehand can still help trigger content that the website loads only when it enters view.

Is the image saved by Chrome or macOS?

The DevTools capture is downloaded by Chrome. macOS screenshot shortcuts save according to the Screenshot app’s configured destination, which is the desktop by default unless changed.

Can I capture only part of a webpage without taking a screen crop?

Yes. Use DevTools’ Capture area screenshot command while DevTools is docked, then select the page region.
